Dancing illegal in D.C.?
Submitted by Wayne on Tue, 2008-04-15 15:01. Politicshttp://freethejefferson1.wordp... chronicles the plight of a "freedom dancer" apparently arrested for--well, for nothing, really. You really have to read it to believe it. I'm sure there's another side to this, but I have hard to imagining it's markedly different than the account at this link. Check it out.
Congressman
Submitted by Wayne on Fri, 2008-04-11 08:25. Politics | StupidityIt's just a small thing, but it's a favorite peeve of mine. Newsmen, journalists, pundits, and other charlatans don't seem to understand the definition of a Congressman. The term is used as if it were synonymous with Representative. However, Congress consists of two houses, the House of Representatives and the House of the Senate. A member of either is called a Congressman. If you wish to distinguish one from the other, a Congressman may be called a Representative or a Senator. » read more »
The difference between D and R
Submitted by Wayne on Tue, 2008-04-08 10:19. PoliticsThe difference between D and R - [Vox Popoli]
This is worthy of quotation in its entirety:
Rod Dreher sums it up:
The difference between the Democrats and the Republicans is the Dems will tax us to blow our money, and the Republicans will just put the shopping spree on a credit card. » read more »
Exposing Islam
Submitted by Wayne on Tue, 2008-04-01 08:59. Islam | Politics | WarMuslims seem intent to prove Islam's peaceful nature, even if they have to kill you to do it. Dave wrote about this a year ago, but the Dutch may have finally found a backbone :
A Dutch parliamentarian who believes Islam’s massive global growth is feeding on the worldwide fear of denouncing the violence-based religion, this week did what few men have had the courage to do, and confronted it. » read more »
Torture
Submitted by Wayne on Fri, 2008-03-28 10:51. Doctrine | PoliticsThere's been a lot of press these last few years about torture being used by the U.S. against prisoners in the "War against Terror". Most definitions of torture define in terms of physical or mental pain, usually inflicted to extract information or for the pleasure of it. I don't care to debate the definition--it's not terribly important--but I am interested in discussing the morality of torture. » read more »
Christian conservatives [sic] are stupid

It's starting
Submitted by Dave on Thu, 2008-03-06 09:28. Homeschool | Law | Parenting | PoliticsA California court has issued a ruling which effectively makes homeschooling in that state illegal. (Not surprisingly, neither the legislature nor any sort of popular sanction was involved. Such is "law" in this day and age.) In fact, the ruling is broad enough to affect charter schools and even study-at-home programs that are overseen by the public system. The case is headed to the state supreme court, so the ruling could be overturned, but that's only temporary. » read more »
Global Warming
Submitted by Wayne on Tue, 2008-03-04 11:55. PoliticsJohn McCain, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton all promise massive new regulations that will cost trillions of dollars to combat global warming. McCain says that it will be his first task if he wins the presidency. After consulting with Al Gore, Obama feels the problem is so imminent that it is not even really possible to wait until he becomes president.
Ironically, this political unanimity is occurring as global temperatures have been cooling dramatically over the last decade. » read more »
All Powerful President
Submitted by Wayne on Mon, 2008-02-25 09:10. PoliticsSome choice quotations from http://voxday.blogspot.com/200...
Apparently it's not enough that the federal government is permitting the civilian invasion of America by its neighbors, now it intends to permit open military invasion as well:
In a ceremony that received virtually no attention in the American media, the United States and Canada signed a military agreement Feb. 14 allowing the armed forces from one nation to support the armed forces of the other nation during a domestic civil emergency, even one that does not involve a cross-border crisis. The agreement, defined as a Civil Assistance Plan, was not submitted to Congress for approval, nor did Congress pass any law or treaty specifically authorizing this military agreement to combine the operations of the armed forces of the United States and Canada in the event of a wide range of domestic civil disturbances ranging from violent storms, to health epidemics, to civil riots or terrorist attacks. » read more »
Third World Integrity
Submitted by Wayne on Mon, 2008-02-18 16:22. Holiness | PoliticsWithout doing any research or studies yet, I claim that third-worlders are generally more deficient in individual integrity than first-worlders. I think this is partially responsible for the shift in national culture in the U.S. by the massive influx of Latin Americans. (I dare say the very definition of civilized may hinge upon individual integrity.) » read more »
