Please pray for Kevin & Kristen Hamako, our son-in-law and daughter. They are heading back to Iraq for a second tour of duty (Air Force). The Lord protected them well the first time, and I expect He'll do so again. We miss them and look forward to having them visit someday; and we thank them for their selfless service.

Also pray that Kristen may be drawn ever closer to the Lord and that Kevin may come to know and accept his Savior, growing to be a Godly husband (and father someday).

My new job was to start Monday, 20 August 2007. Late Friday, 17 August, I got word from the company's HR representative that my background check is not complete, so my starting date is being pushed off by a week. Disappointing, but things do happen.

I'm trying not to over-react. I left word with the HR person that I would still be available Monday morning, should the situation change, and sent an email to the background invesitgation company that, since I am on a (non-paid) vacation, I can devout whatever effort is required to help move the process along, and whether there were any questions or concerns I could answer. » read more »

80+ Year Old Mother Driving from Pennsylvania to Georgia to Michigan to Pennsylvania

My Mom is planning to drive, starting this Thursday, from my sister's house in Pennsylvania to my house in Atlanta, then to her brother's house in southern Michigan, then back to Pennsylvania. Please pray for her own safety, as well as those on the same road; she is not a safe driver.

I offered to buy her a round trip plane ticket, but she would rather drive. I'm sure a large part of it has to do with needing to feel independent.

Did I mention she's over 80 years old? Well, that has almost nothing to do with it; she's just as safe or unsafe as I've known her to be for the last 30 or 40 y » read more »

Mother and Sister

My mother lives in Pennsylvania with my sister, Jennifer, and her family--husband (an aspiring politician), 2 boys (one in the military), and a daughter (a college student). It is not a happy arrangement, but a convenient one. Mom can be difficult to be around at times; demanding, snappy, easily offended, stubborn--in other words, human, but less inhibited than most. Her driving frightens everyone. She's 80 years old and has been like this for at least 40 years.

Jennifer is kind, loving, and patient, but she does have her limits, as well as a stressful, full-time job and busy family (did I mention her husband is a politician?). Mom is in the hospital, recovering from a bleeding ulcer that nearly killed her. » read more »

Little girl needs surgery

Please pray for a little girl who has a severe eye problem. It's gone uncorrected for several years now, so there may be lasting effects even after being corrected. Pray her corrective surgery is successful and for long-term effects to be minimized. Also pray for her parents' salvation and parental competence.

I have a friend named Wes who has cancer. He has been through many treatments and enjoyed a brief remission, but the doctors now tell him there is nothing more they can do. But we know that where doctors fail, the Lord can succeed. Wes is a believer, so healing is inevitable, either in this world or the next. Please pray that Wes and his family face this trial with the Lord in their hearts, whatever the outcome, and that He shepherds them each step of the way.
