Gwinnett Corruption

Gwinnett County government is corrupt. I should hope that would be obvious to anyone who has had any dealing with, say, the county commissioners. I'm interested in recording some of their corruption. Any ideas on how best to do this?

Here are some sites tracking various, specific kinds of local corruption:
http://www.corruptgacourts.com/ (courts)
http://gcps.blogspot.com/ (schools)
http://www.mackperryhomes.com/gwinnett-county... (commissioners, trash)
http://www.gwinnettforum.com/docs/09.0317.eth...
http://gwinnettviews.com/ (trash)

There's a great deal of cronyism, self-interest (including personal profiteering), and overt tyranny in the form of attempts to control the citizens far beyond that which is allowed by God. For example, the trash debacle has highlighted many instances of corruption and tyranny among the county commissioners.

The county police have exhibited various forms of corruption (e.g., checkpoints, incompetence, trespassing, Tasering innocent people, etc.), not the least of which is commonplace bribery in the form of free services from local establishments. I myself snitched on several Lilburn police officers for what was at least dereliction of duty if not something much worse (dealing?). Police today have practically unlimited power. They cannot be sued if they act "in the performance of their duties", even if that "duty" was morally wrong. Patrolmen can disobey many laws even without flashing their lights or sounding their sirens, making them unaccountable for when there is no legitimacy for their lawlessness. Any questioning of their authority, especially if you mention the Constitution, is very likely to get you Tasered and arrested. [I feel I should be fair and mention that the older cops tend to be more even keeled, having grown up in an era of relative freedom. The younger ones tend to be more abusive of their power.] Sadly, the types of people attracted to law enforcement, those seeking power and possibly suffering inferiority complexes, are the very ones who should never be given a badge, let alone weapons.

Then there are bus drivers. These must be the dumbest people in the county, if their driving habits are any indication. I've personally witnessed numerous school and "public" buses nearly run over other drivers. I've a friend who was literally just hit but a government bus the other day. The bus swerved out of its turn lane for no apparent reason, knocking my friend (who was alongside the bus) into the next lane over as it destroyed one side of her vehicle. The police refused to cite the bus driver, of course, claiming an inability to discern the sequence of events (though anyone who's taken even high school physics could not have mistaken the events). I don't believe these people are smart enough for the amount of power they wield, bus drivers or police.

Government is the power of force. Power corrupts. These are easily defended truths. Gwinnett County is no exception, its numerous governmental agencies rife with corruption and abuse of power. How should we track such instances? Comments to this blog? What else can be done by average citizens without the power to build a legal case but with the likelihood of becoming victims of the abuse of power?

Police State in Gwinnett

Gwinnett County Police practice "regulatory checkpoints" wherein they check your license* and registration*. They're using a SCOTUS-created loophole in the Fourth Amendment—there is no such loophole, regardless of what the SCOTUS says. That's just what we need: while the fedgov is busy destroying any semblance of individual rights, denying Natural Law, and trampling on the Constitution, local government chooses to destroy any semblance of individual rights, deny Natural Law, and trample on the Constitution. Thanks, jerks. I guess they'd rather be counted among the enemies of freedom than its defenders.

May God help anyone brave enough to assert his rights at such checkpoints. If history is any indicator, such patriots will likely be Tasered until they comply or die.

Today's "checkpoint" featured over 20 cops, cars, lights, bikes, the works. It was a large show of force. If anyone who was actually a criminal saw this, they'd simply veer off, go through a nearby neighborhood, turn around, etc. In other words, the tactic is utterly without value except—here comes the golden nugget!—if their goal is to assert their totalitarian authority over the general populace.

*The very concept of government licensing and government registration of anything flies in the face of Natural Law, violating God-given rights to property, among others. This means the very basis for the checkpoint, even if such a Constitutional loophole existed (it doesn't), is bogus.

A magistrate’s judge dismissed charges Thursday against a Gwinnett County woman accused of performing an exorcism on her unruly teenage son.

“All we have is parents who chose a course of action that government does not like or does not understand. That’s all we have,” said Judge Robert Mitchum. “… She cannot be held on these warrants.”
...
Defense attorney Mitchell Kay said Alfred’s actions in handcuffing the boy were no different from what the police do when they encounter an unruly suspect.

Blogger facing charges

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,528031,00...

HARTFORD, Conn. — A New Jersey blogger is due in a Connecticut courtroom to face a charge of inciting violence against state lawmakers.

Harold "Hal" Turner of North Bergen, N.J., is set to appear in Hartford Superior Court on Monday.

The 47-year-old former radio talk show host, who now broadcasts commentary on his Web site, urged his blog readers earlier this month to "take up arms" against Connecticut lawmakers and suggested government officials should "obey the Constitution or die."

Turner was angry over legislation that would have given lay members of Roman Catholic churches in Connecticut more control over their parishes' finances. The bill, brought by state Sen. Andrew McDonald and Rep. Michael Lawlor, was withdrawn in March.

Turner's lawyer says the case is about freedom of speech.

I must admit I tend to agree with him. I find tyranny to be the greatest enemy of this nation, and by definition, the enemy to freedom. I find it consistent to suggest Constitutional violations by lawmakers as treasonous actions, punishable by the death penalty in some cases. I do not believe it's time for such justice to be executed by the people at large. Instead, this justice should be incorporated into our rule-of-law. On the other hand, I believe tyranny is growing at a rate that I can reasonably predict armed rebellion in my lifetime. I can certainly empathize with this blogger's anger.

Christians arrested for evangelizing on public property...in Ohio

The Christians were on a college campus—a public school. They were behaving peacefully and lawfully, but the cops (rent-a-cops?) got rough, arrested them, and confiscated their video camera.

No longer is persecution of Christians a foreign phenomenon. It's here now, too.

Notice that nothing the courts do—no matter if they end up supporting the law—the damage has been done and cannot be undone.

The bad guys (the cops) should pay a penalty so high that no police will ever again dare violate the Constitution. Oops. They're immune from any prosecution because they "obeyed orders". Why do our storm troopers get to use this so-called defense, when Germany's could not.

Over My Dead Body

A dozen FBI agents black-bag a teenager in the middle of the night because he was alleged to be a terrorist, thanks to the PATRIOT Act. Supposedly, it was a bomb threat issued via a hijacked IP address erroneously traced to the boy's computer (he wasn't even home during the alleged event). Was he so much of a threat to "national security" (there's a euphemism!) that he had to be kidnapped in the middle of the night? I wonder how many thousands of real terrorists calmly walked across the Mexican border while federal resources were dedicated to chasing ghosts.

What a bunch of cowards! They sent 12 armed storm troopers to break into a home at night to kidnap an innocent boy from an unarmed widow. There was a time when these 12 "men" would have been ashamed to be associated with such cowardice, let alone demonstrate their complete lack of testicles—to say nothing of such willful violation of the supreme law of this land. Let's call these jackbooted thugs what they really are: eunuchs. They're mindless, sackless slaves to an evil master with no conscience.

The mother said, "We have no rights under the Patriot Act to even defend them, because the Patriot Act basically supersedes the Constitution."

"I was terrified," Lundeby's mother said. "There were guns, and I don't allow guns around my children. I don't believe in guns."

And there is her mistake. She was not equipped to defend her son. Had she attempted to defend him with due force, even at the cost of her own life, she'd have countless thousands (millions?) of patriots rallying against the evil storm troopers who violated their oath to defend the Constitution.

I expect events like this will eventually wake sleeping patriots. They will begin readying themselves for civil war. I can only guess this is what the fedgov ultimately wants. A civil war will bring out into the open tyranny's enemies. With the gross disparity of power (in violation of the intent of the Second Amendment), it's all but assured that the true patriots will be slaughtered in this civil war. This will leave the fedgov little to no opposition as it transforms the land of the free into Oceania.

Woman goes to jail for texting

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/?pageId=96487

According to Jackson's report, the incident happened in Tooele about a month ago, but his daughter-in-law was summoned to court only yesterday and ordered immediately to jail.

Henwood's husband, Josh Henwood, was in court over a civil dispute involving a development project on which he worked.

Susan Henwood allegedly sent a text message, an action that didn't affect the hearing, its participants, or the judge, but later was reported to him by a member of the court staff, according to Jackson.

She was summoned to court where [Judge Stephen] Henriod ordered her immediately to jail for 30 days, responding to a request for bail with the condition that it would be allowed only if her husband paid a $70,000 judgment stemming from the civil dispute, Jackson reported.

Jackson reported there were no notices or warnings posted, a statement contradicted by the clerk's office spokeswoman, who told WND that visitors to court were told of the judge's ban on text messages. However, when asked how the warning was delivered, by sign or verbal statement, she said, "I have no idea."

This is a good example of when lawful citizens should rebel against immoral judges who have lost all reason. In my opinion, this judge—who has shown a pattern of abusing his power—should be tried and face the death penalty. Only when such abuses of power are slapped down hard will our rulers humble themselves before their civil masters (we the people).

Police punished for being lawful

This is what happens when a policeman stands up for the Constitutional rights of citizens. When he questioned his superior's order to arrest 15 people peacefully sharing their faith on the university's campus, he was relieved of duty, a reprimand was put into his file, and he was suspected without pay for a week. Then he was told that if he did it ever again, he'd be fired.

The peaceful Christians was arrested anyway but later released when the court found no basis for the charges. Too late. The damage was done. Free speech was quelled. The government violated their rights, despite its purpose to protect citizens' rights. The bad guys won. And the one good guy among all the bad guys with badges was punished, his career likely forever affected.

Much as it pains me to say, the worst enemy this nation has now, even with the hundred million Muslims or so who wish to kill us all, is actually our own government at all levels. And they have provided abundant evidence that they will give, follow, and enforce illegal, unconstitutional, and evil orders without hesitation.

As an aside... Hoplophobes irrationally believe that guns have minds of their own, that they can "go off" at any time without discretion. Perhaps there's a kernel of truth there. The kinds of guns that have minds of their own, that can shoot almost without discretion, and can perpetrate great evils upon the innocent, are those guns wielded by the jackbooted LEOs whose oath to the Constitution (and before God) means nothing.

Cop beats 15yo girl

"Serve and Protect"...yeah, right!

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/401779_sc...

Since LEOs wield so much more authority than everyone else, they should also bear much more punishment when that authority is abused. It's not enough that a police officer is tried as a criminal when he breaks the law in the use of his authority (if we're lucky enough to see even this!); his punishment should be commensurate with the authority he abused. If he shoots an unarmed man, he should be put to death. If he beats an already imprisoned 15 year old girl, regardless of what she says (remember "words will never hurt me"?), his punishment should not be merely a year in jail. His life as he knew it should be over. I don't agree with prison in principle, but at least life in prison should be in order, if not death. Police need to know that if they screw up and abuse their power, their punishment will be as severe as the trust they lost in abusing their power.

In geek-speak: with great power comes great responsibility. It's not kosher for LEOs to have great power but the same responsibility as the rest of us. Bull!

Rule of Law

Bill Press insists upon rule-of-law:

There's no doubt Bush and Cheney broke the law, in several areas. Within days of Sept. 11, Bush gave orders for the NSA to tap the phones of American citizens without getting a warrant from the FISA court. That was clearly against the law, and Bush and Cheney knew it.

When Ambassador Joe Wilson embarrassed Bush by exposing the lies he told about Iraq's seeking to purchase yellowcake uranium in Niger, the Bush White House retaliated by unmasking his wife's identify as an undercover CIA agent. That was clearly against the law, and Bush and Cheney knew it.

When the first "terrorist suspects" were rounded up in Afghanistan and Pakistan, they were brought to Guantanamo Bay, where some of them were tortured. The use of torture, in fact, has now been confirmed by Susan Crawford, the top Bush administration official in charge of deciding whether to bring Guantanamo Bay detainees to trial. Torturing prisoners of war – even if it's called "enhanced interrogation techniques" – is clearly against both U.S. law and international law, and Bush and Cheney knew it.

And the list goes on. Clearly, George Bush and Dick Cheney violated many of the laws they took an oath to uphold. The question is whether they should be prosecuted for their crimes or simply allowed to walk away.

The answer, I believe, depends on whether we believe in the rule of law or not. If we do, there's no choice: The Justice Department must prosecute. Otherwise, we send the dangerous message that, once you achieve a certain level of political power in this country, you can operate outside the law with impunity.

He left out the fact Bush waged war(s) without a Congressional declaration, violating the very clear Constitution, surely a bigger crime than the ones Press mentions.

Of course, we all know what the outcome will be. There will be no trial. There is no rule of law in this country—hasn't been for many, many years. Those in power do pretty much what they want, and the rest of us take it up our—
