The Lord is a man of war

Exodus 15:3 popped out at me today.

יהוה (the LORD) is a man of war; יהוה (the LORD) is His name.

The Lord is not a pacifist, and neither are His followers commanded to be so. Christians are not to be doormats, not for illegal invaders, Muslim killers, or lawless rulers. Those wussy, socialist (thieving) weenies who wrongly espouse the moniker "Christian" do not represent Biblically Christian values. God may be love, and He surely prefers this, but He's just as much "a man of war."

Denial of God's revealed character, or a portion thereof, is a sinful attempt to fashion an idol made after man's heart. Today's church, having abandoned or perverted the Word of God, needs to repent of this sin and let God be who He is.

Read The Book

Vox admonishes morons to read the books they reference or critique. I think Vox is wasting his blog bits, but that's okay. (After all, those who need to hear this are already morons. Although reading the books they complain about would certainly be of help to them, I'm too cynical to see it happening. Vox even admits that most people read merely to confirm their own prejudices.) Where this advice really needs to be applied is when people dismiss or criticize Biblical Christianity without having read the Bible, usually relying upon "organized religion", televangelists, or ignorant followers as their sources of [mis-]information. Frankly, most believers haven't even read God's Word, so the advice is good for them, too.

Critics and professing believers alike, go read the Bible. There are plenty of reading plans available (e.g.). You can read it straight through, chronologically, biographically, just the highlights (for starters), and so much more. If you want to "read" it just to whine, don't bother; you're an idiot. If you want to read it to have an informed discussion, regardless of which side you've chosen, go for it. If you lack someone with whom you may discuss your inquiries as you seek the truth (regardless of whether or not you believe the Bible holds the truth), feel free to contact me.

It's easily argued that the Bible is the most influential book in history. What fool would fail to read and study it thoroughly to learn the wisdom and truths therein?

Bible Expert Isn't

WND reports on the "Bible Go-to Guy", a self-proclaimed expert [sic] on the Bible. Evidently, this so-called expert is a moron, as even basic Biblical doctrines, and the evidentiary verses, elude him.

A national radio show discussing Bible truth took a heated turn Christmas Eve when a so-called biblical expert proclaimed that Jesus Christ is not God.

"Jesus did not create the world," said the Bible Go-to Guy. "The world was created through Him. That's a difference."

Earlier in the radio program, the Bible Go-to Guy admitted it was "eye-opening" to him when Kovacs informed him there were no wise men present at the manger scene the night Jesus was born in Bethlehem. He also was unaware that God sought to kill Moses shortly after instructing him to free the Israelites from slavery in Egypt.

But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Does the Constitution obey the Word of God?

As I was writing another post, I stumbled upon the question of whether the Constitution is entirely obedient to the Word of God. I found that I did not have a clear answer. I still don't, even as I post this, though I intend to look into the matter.

Does anyone else have an opinion on this? (I mean, besides Wayne, from whom I am certain we will hear very soon. )

God's Secret Name

The tetragrammaton, the four-letter Hebrew name of God that nobody really knows for sure how to pronounce or what it means, is translated in Exodus as "I AM". Hebrew is a phonetic language, meaning each letter stands for a sound, just like English. However, Hebrew can also be an ideographic language like Chinese or ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, where each symbol stands for an idea or a whole word. This ideographic perspective of Hebrew isn't used much anymore, but it's valid. Using this, the tetragrammaton, יהוה (the LORD), means: "Behold, the hand. Behold, the nail."
