Bad roofer

|

A while back I mentioned that we had our roof replaced. While our experience with our homeowner's insurance company was quite good, our experience with the roofing company that we went with, Academy Roofing, was not. » read more »

Great Screwdriver

I'm not recommending a business, per se, but a product. Ever since I saw a former coworker with this screwdriver, I have sought it myself--for years now. I couldn't remember the brand or name, only the features. Every time I went to a hardware store (a frequent occurrence), I looked for it. I finally stumbled across it at Home Depot in Tucker yesterday (29 & JC). Of all places, it was in the light bulb section. Go figure. » read more »

Lillian Vernon Is Slow

Lillian Vernon's online shopping is very substandard. First, processing of the order takes a full week (meaning they sit on it doing nothing for that time). Second, unless you pay unusually high rates for rapid delivery, their normal delivery mechanism is also amazingly slow. Considering first class USPS takes only 2-4 days to go most anywhere in the nation, 2-3 weeks for delivery is pretty sad. Third, no tracking information is offered via email. Fourth, the tracking information on the website is wrong. » read more »

Sonorix C3

I received the Sonorix C3 bluetooth headset/headphones device several months ago as a gift. Not only is it a wireless headset, but it supports the A2DP profile (stereo headphones), too. There are several unique features of the C3. It clips to your shirt. It supports the use of any standard headphones; it has a 3.5mm jack. This last feature was especially important to me, as I am able to choose whatever headphones, earpieces, etc., that I desire. It has a built-in microphone for headset use. » read more »

Kidsignments

Kidsignments is coming next week! Held twice a year, it's one of the largest children's consignment sales in the nation, limiting the number of sellers to 1,000! There is always a waiting list of sellers to get into this sale.

Check out www.kidsignments.com for all the details. » read more »

Real Estate

I recommend Jerry Knoff if you're ever in the market to buy or sell real estate. He's a very enthusiastic broker with values rarely seen in real estate. He used to be an accountability brother of mine, so I know him very well. He's conscientious, goes above and beyond the call of duty, works tirelessly for you, and exudes integrity. He's a real professional. » read more »

Guven's Fine Jewelry

Guven's has been a consistently awesome jeweler. They're sold-out believers. They always give very fair deals--far more fair to the customer than to their own bottom line. They are very helpful and attentive. They're quick. They're also patient as they wait on customers. Their taste is impeccable, too. We have frequented Guven's for years, and we're still amazed by their service and prices.

Limiting posts' scope

If you want to limit the scope of your posts to just trusted members of TuscanyCircle, select the category named "Trusted" when you create the post. Make sure this it the only category you choose (because everybody can see all the other categories and they're ORed). For example, if you wish to discuss something of a somewhat personal nature, this would keep the post (and its comments) out of RSS feeds and search engines, and off the website unless the reader is logged in and trusted user. » read more »

Email Notification

After some extensive work on the Notify module of TuscanyCircle, and after its long absence, I've re-enabled email notifications for trusted users. If you go into your account (click "account" on the top-center menu), you should see a tab for "my notify settings" or something like that. You can choose to enable or disable notifications as well as include new posts and/or new comments. » read more »

Chiropractor

We had never believed in chiropractors' effectiveness. In fact, much of their philosophy is bunk, as far as we're concerned (e.g., all troubles can be trace to the spine, etc.) We think manipulating the spine is a dangerous prospect, and there are likely a lot of incompetent chiropractors out there. Having said all this, we have found one we are comfortable recommending without reservation: » read more »
