These people are definitely not terrorists by any stretch of the imagination. They may be thieves, but they're definitely not terrorists. It's even arguable that the RICO Act does not apply to them, if there's no actual racketeering or organized crime (the unconstitutionality of the RICO Act notwithstanding). » read more »

We are not all God's children
Submitted by Wayne on Fri, 2010-05-28 13:58. DoctrineMany people, including some believers, like to say we are all God's children, but it is just not true.
The world often says that we are all children of God, not matter what race, color or creed. That sounds virtuous, but it is not what the Bible teaches.
While we are all made in God’s image--with a moral compass that sets us apart from the animal kingdom, the Bible makes it clear that we are not His "children." Rather, we are called "children of wrath" (see Ephesians 2:3). » read more »
Is racial discrimination immoral?
Submitted by Dave on Sat, 2010-05-15 10:15. Bible | Doctrine | JusticeIs racial discrimination immoral according to God's Law? To put it another way (and I'm not actually certain that this is the same question), do we have the right to avoid discrimination by others based on our race? This is a question I have been considering of late, and I have not come up with a satisfactory answer.
I want to be clear what I mean by "racial discrimination." The only sense that I wish to consider is where a person adopts and acts on a bias based solely on the fact that a person is black, white, Asian, etc. A pair of examples may be instructive here. » read more »
Fully human
Submitted by Dave on Wed, 2010-05-12 07:18. Bible | DoctrineAs I was reading the Bible recently, I happened upon a passage that stood out for me. In 1 John, the author discusses "false spirits," meaning ostensible church leaders who in fact teach falsehoods. The author gives instructions for discerning these "false spirits": » read more »
How to know the Lord
Submitted by Wayne on Fri, 2010-05-07 11:34. DoctrineRay Comfort is asked:
Ray, Could you explain to me what it means to 'know the Lord'? I often hear you ask 'ex-Christians' (in quotes for your benefit) if they 'knew the Lord'. I would like to better understand your relationship with the Lord. How do you communicate with Him? How does He communicate back? In what way can one know that they know the Lord in the same manner as you?
Ray answers beautifully: » read more »
What is a Christian?
Submitted by Wayne on Sat, 2010-04-24 09:46. Church | Doctrine | HolinessWhat is a Christian? Is it anyone who claims the title, attends such a labeled church, or lives in the West? Of course not! But what does it take to be known legitimately as Christian? Why is this important? In one particular way, it is very important. Churches, ministries, and individuals often identify themselves as Christian but fail every Biblical hallmark—these are false believers. In short, these are wolves in sheep's clothing, surely more dangerous to believers than wolves openly known as such. » read more »
Trappings of clergy
Submitted by Wayne on Mon, 2010-04-19 10:43. Church | Doctrine | HolinessI received a forwarded message sent by a self-anointed Messianic rabbi. Here is a portion of it referring to an expensive conference he is commanding his yeshiva's students to attend. » read more »
Liberal Christianity
Submitted by Wayne on Fri, 2010-01-29 09:22. DoctrineThe state of today's faith is abysmal.
I don't think it's any secret that I am contemptuous of Christopher Hitchens's intellect as well as his capacity for constructing a rational argument about religion. And yet... » read more »
Evangelism
Submitted by Wayne on Tue, 2010-01-05 15:03. DoctrineI often think Jews (of the modern Jewish religion, that is) have a better handle on proper evangelism than Christians. In their zeal to spread the Good News, Christians have chosen to cheapen the faith. Discipleship is no longer costly, we're told. All it takes is the Sinner's Prayer, they say. Believe and confess—that's all. Accept Jesus into our hearts—whatever that might mean—and there's nothing more expected of us, or so it's badly preached. Jews, on the other hand, actually discourage conversion to modern Judaism. » read more »
