Cops are scared

The fear on the street is palpable. Ever since the election of Barack Obama as President [sic] of these United States in November 2008, coupled with the election of a democrat party majority in both the U.S. House and Senate, concern for the United States and personal safety has ignited like a fire in dry grass.

The cop continues:

What is odd about this new fear is that it is not coming from the average citizen gun owner out there, but it is coming from what to me is an almost shocking source: street cops. Street cops and SWAT cops that I know from various agencies – rural, suburban and metro – in my area are scared.
...
Well in our discussions it seems to boil down to four areas. First, fear of federal government intrusion into our lives.
...
What also scares us is the second, well-founded fear that there is an assault weapons ban looming, one that would make the Clinton Ban appear like a look of disdain in comparison.
...
Which leads me to the third fear, that there is a revolution coming, yes, a revolution on the scale of the original American Revolution. [emphasis added] You can hear this topic discussed on many of the talk radio shows by even the big name hosts. The possibility of an armed revolution against the U.S. government is being discussed, albeit very gingerly and fleetingly and as something to be avoided, which it is. I never heard this mentioned in the 90s.

One of my quietest, low profile officer friends brought it up the other day. He said that at some point in the near future, he felt there is going to be an armed revolt if things keep going the way they are. Something has got to give. I was shocked. Yes, I had heard this from some of my more radical cop friends in the past, but to hear it from a guy like this was unprecedented for me. Now, these guys are not saying this will happen to foment revolution, preach sedition or to even participate. They just want to be ready if it happens, to at least defend their families, because number four on the fear list is general societal chaos.

Average citizens are also starting to wake from their apathetic slumber. I don't know anyone I'd characterize as scared, but I know plenty who are concerned and taking steps to protect their families, too, like these cops. I know folks who now carry, folks I never dreamed ever would, and many others who are inquiring about the same. Ammunition is scarce, and I know plenty who are not wasting what they have. Gun-owners, not just cops, are readying themselves.

As this cop wrote, I too am not recommending any rebellion yet, but I also know it's coming. There is war looming. It's best to be prepared. It's comforting to know there are Oath-Keepers who will be on the side of freedom, not the ruling tyrants.

United States

Article III, Section 3, of the Constitution starts:

Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. (emphasis added)

Notice the plurality used to reference "United States". The United States are not the federal government but the 50 sovereign states themselves. The United States are not synonymous with the federal government. The United States are a federal collection of otherwise free and independent states.

In this country a "state" is wrongly perceived as what other nations would call a province. Properly understood, a state is a nation and not a province of a larger nation. Federalism, then, is akin to a tightly bound (say, via treaties) group of nations. In our case, federalism is a group of nations bound by the Constitution, our version of a comprehensive international treaty. Our culture needs to recover this mentality that the United States are not a single nation but a federation of nation-states.

When seen in this light, the fedgov loses much of its power. The reason for Constitutional limitations become clear. The intent of the Commerce Clause is made obvious. This is not one great nation, although its unity provides a kind of economic power as if it were one. (This is why the E.U. tries to imitate [badly] our federalism.) The states are free to be quite different from one another. They are free to withdraw from the federal "treaty", too (Lincoln's immoral enslavement of the states notwithstanding). Assuming federal membership is desired, the Constitution is designed to bind the states together enough that they won't fight among themselves, threatening the desired federal unity, but it is not designed to override state sovereignty or force membership in the federation.

Did the Constitution include the seeds of its own destruction? In addition to its plural "United States", the Constitution also uses the singular term "Union". By Lincoln's era, this singular Union was elevated beyond that of the plural States. No longer was it a federation of sovereign states; it was viewed by many as a singular union whose provinces were utterly subject to the federal [sic] government. Being the military victor, the Union took center stage, and the United States thereafter became a singular entity conflated with their federal government. And it's been downhill ever since.

The very simple act of keeping the United States plural can further the cause of freedom and federalism as our Founding Fathers designed. (Pardon the alliteration.) I've been using the term fedgov to mean the federal government, but in truth, the fedgov is not federal at all. The fedgov is the domestic enemy of freedom and state sovereignty. It is a perversion of what once was a federal government, a weak government designed only to help the independent States support each other. Take a page from the Leftist playbook by changing the definitions of common terms. However, rather than perverting the terms, we are restoring them to their proper meanings. Educate others on the terms and their real definitions. After a couple generations of culture shift back toward truth, we may yet reclaim freedom for these United States.

Where's your line?

Where is your line to be drawn? When will the tyranny be enough for you such that you won't accept any more? Are you a slave willing to to be utterly subjugated by government? Or are you a patriot, willing to fight for freedom? If the latter, then where's your line beyond which your tolerance vanishes? If the former, we have no use for you in this country; either stay the hell out of our way or leave.

My line has been drawn. I will accept no more tyranny. I will not comply with the illegal census. I will not comply with gun laws that violate the Second Amendment. I will not allow "authorities" in my home under any circumstances. I will not allow storm troopers to take my family or harm them. I will not give up my right to absolute sovereignty over my property. I will not surrender my right to teach and raise my own child, nor will I submit to government control thereof. I and mine will not submit to any form of conscription. I will not use CFLs in my home. (In fact, I'm contemplating the most "polluting" forms of lighting as alternatives.) I will not accept socialized trash. I consider LEOs, generally and as a lot, enemies to freedom, and I avoid dependency upon them (sans oath-keepers). My line is drawn, and I will mercilessly sever any toes stepping over it.

Do you have a line for you and yours? Have you defined it? I expect if you took a step back and analyzed the situation, you may find your would-be line has already been crossed. If you value freedom more than your life, I recommend you define your line clearly and defend it honorably if forcefully. If not, then you've already tacitly accepted defeat and enslavement; good riddance to the likes of you.

Sharia and Patriots

I believe this (http://www.worldnetdaily.com/?pageId=99148) may be an existential threat here at home, too, given the right impetus. Any significant sign* will likely embolden those prone to such lawless, riotous behavior in attempts to accelerate America's demise. Understanding this mentality and identifying the signs of imminence would be prudent.

The recent silence from Mapping Sharia is unsettling. Sharia is diametrically opposed to freedom, and it is wise to understand and "map" it. Such is the first step toward defense of freedom from this threat. Despite the silence, I hope the Mapping Sharia team is still at work and the freedom-loving public may benefit from it.

*Significant signs may include social descent toward anarchy, but, ironically, it may also include patriotic rebellion to illegal government. With our runaway federal government, efforts toward the restoration of domestic freedom may include moral, if illegal, rebellion. These efforts may be seen as a nice excuse to launch a lawless campaign of violence by those who prefer Sharia to freedom, effectively tainting patriots' efforts.

Big Brother is Watching You

Big Brother is watching you:

"The 'TEA Party' movement is an unhealthy mutation from public dissatisfaction with the Obama administration’s economic policies." — David Axelrod, Senior White House Adviser, April 2009

...

This Obama enemies list is a lengthy one, encompassing all “single-issue” advocates, including those who are pro-life, those who are gun owners, those who oppose illegal immigration, those who oppose “same -sex marriages” (such as Miss California), those who support third-party candidates, those who criticize free trade agreements, and, believe it or not, those military returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and those veterans still around.

A citizen-taxpayer who falls into several of these categories is even more likely to be targeted. The FBI appears to be following, in lockstep, the DHS agenda, in complete disregard for the constitutional rights of the citizenry.

...

The worst aspect of this sad state of affairs is that the FBI historically has been a strong, disciplined, and effective bureau that lived up to its motto of “Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity.” For a century, countless books, articles, news accounts, movies, radio, and television shows have documented the Bureau as one of the world’s leading investigatory agencies. Now in 100 days, its proud history of crime fighting, spy-catching, civil-rights protecting, and domestic intelligence-gathering has been downgraded to political pandering and bureaucratic one-upmanship.

...

Armed with this baseless and biased assessment, the FBI under Mueller swung into action to place the Tax Day TEA Parties of April 15, 2009, under federal surveillance.

Mueller alerted FBI field offices throughout the United States to verify the date, time, location, and organizers of each TEA Party within their jurisdiction and to supply that information to seat of government, that is, FBI headquarters in Washington, D.C. This request was issued two weeks before the DHS report was leaked to the California talk show.

Subsequently on April 6, 2009, FBI Headquarters advised its field offices to conduct cover surveillance and data collection of the protestors attending each TEA Party. The director’s advisory suggested that the surveillances were to be discreet and outside the purview of local law enforcement.

If you haven't read 1984 or haven't read it in a long while, go read it now.

Then and Now

Sabers are only now rattling in response to the prolonged tyrannies of the fedgov. State legislatures' resolutions, "tea parties", etc., are merely the beginnings of popular groans against corruption and totalitarianism. As intellectually and morally retarded as our society is, I wonder how long it will take before such impotent grumblings grow to calls for secession and then to rebellion and revolution.

Was the evolution of Independence so appallingly slow the first time 'round? From the Boston Tea Party to the Revolution was less than two years. From the Tea Act to the Tea Party was only six months. The Boston Massacre (where British troops slaughtered a handful of colonists) was in 1770. The Sugar Act in 1764 and the Stamp Act in 1765 certainly upset many colonists, but there was no rebellion. It was ten years to open warfare from these two Acts. Then, with the Information Age centuries in wait, it still didn't take long to move popular opinion toward freedom, individual liberty, and independence.

Might today's "tea parties" be comparable to yesteryear's outrage over the Sugar and Stamp Acts insofar as citizens' responses are concerned? Should we expect another revolution in ten years, as there was then? I think not. Today's government abuses against the people—I don't mean the legislative abuses but the armed ones—are ancient history (e.g., Ruby Ridge 1992, Waco 1993) and still ongoing (e.g., YFZ Ranch 2008), yet the Boston Massacre preceded rebellion by three years and open warfare by only five. The abuses today are arguably worse than they were then, certainly the legislative and usurpative abuses, and the fedgov is far more intrusive and pervasive in all facets of life now as compared to the king's abuses then. Still, the people merely gather to grumble. How much longer will we endure our slavery before we throw off such government? Or does our culture now lack spiritual righteousness, the intellectual ability to discern freedom from slavery, and the moral fortitude to do that which is required?

Growth of Tyranny

http://www.constitution.org/tyr/prin_tyr.htm

Control of public information and opinion

It begins with withholding information, and leads to putting out false or misleading information. A government can develop ministries of propaganda under many guises. They typically call it "public information" or "marketing".

Vote fraud used to prevent the election of reformers

It doesn't matter which of the two major party candidates are elected if no real reformer can get nominated, and when news services start knowing the outcomes of elections before it is possible for them to know, then the votes are not being honestly counted.

Undue official influence on trials and juries

Nonrandom selection of jury panels, exclusion of those opposed to the law, exclusion of the jury from hearing argument on the law, exclusion of private prosecutors from access to the grand jury, and prevention of parties and their counsels from making effective arguments or challenging the government.

Usurpation of undelegated powers

This is usually done with popular support for solving some problem, or to redistribute wealth to the advantage of the supporters of the dominant faction, but it soon leads to the deprivation of rights of minorities and individuals.

Seeking a government monopoly on the capability and use of armed force

The first signs are efforts to register or restrict the possession and use of firearms, initially under the guise of "protecting" the public, which, when it actually results in increased crime, provides a basis for further disarmament efforts affecting more people and more weapons.

Militarization of law enforcement

Declaring a "war on crime" that becomes a war on civil liberties.
Preparation of military forces for internal policing duties.

Infiltration and subversion of citizen groups that could be forces for reform

Internal spying and surveillance is the beginning. A sign is false prosecutions of their leaders.

Suppression of investigators and whistleblowers

When people who try to uncover high level wrongdoing are threatened, that is a sign the system is not only riddled with corruption, but that the corruption has passed the threshold into active tyranny.

Use of the law for competition suppression

It begins with the dominant faction winning support by paying off their supporters and suppressing their supporters' competitors, but leads to public officials themselves engaging in illegal activities and using the law to suppress independent competitors. A good example of this is narcotics trafficking.

Subversion of internal checks and balances

This involves the appointment to key positions of persons who can be controlled by their sponsors, and who are then induced to do illegal things. The worst way in which this occurs is in the appointment of judges that will go along with unconstitutional acts by the other branches.

Creation of a class of officials who are above the law

This is indicated by dismissal of charges for wrongdoing against persons who are "following orders".

Increasing dependency of the people on government

The classic approach to domination of the people is to first take
everything they have away from them, then make them compliant with the demands of the rulers to get anything back again.

Increasing public ignorance of their civic duties and reluctance to perform them

When the people avoid doing things like voting and serving in militias and juries, tyranny is not far behind.

Use of staged events to produce popular support

Acts of terrorism, blamed on political opponents, followed immediately with well-prepared proposals for increased powers and budgets for suppressive agencies. Sometimes called a Reichstag plot.

Conversion of rights into privileges

Requiring licenses and permits for doing things that the government does not have the delegated power to restrict, except by due process in which the burden of proof is on the petitioner.

Political correctness

Many if not most people are susceptible to being recruited to engage in repressive actions against disfavored views or behaviors, and led to pave the way for the dominance of tyrannical government.

It seems to me that we fail on every one of these points to one degree or another.

The Enemy

http://voxday.blogspot.com/2009/05/american-s...

Wisconsin police can attach GPS to cars to secretly track anybody's movements without obtaining search warrants, an appeals court ruled Thursday. However, the District 4 Court of Appeals said it was "more than a little troubled" by that conclusion and asked Wisconsin lawmakers to regulate GPS use to protect against abuse by police and private individuals. As the law currently stands, the court said police can mount GPS on cars to track people without violating their constitutional rights -- even if the drivers aren't suspects.

As I have said many times before, the police are not on your side. They consider you to be the enemy, at best, the potential enemy. In light of this, the only rational response is for the American citizenry to view them in precisely the same way. Don't kid yourself. If their superiors ever decide to order them to do what numerous other authoritarian governments have ordered their police and security forces to do in the past, I will be surprised if a single one of them will have the courage to resign, let alone resist. They'll just follow orders and do it, regardless of whether that involves spying on citizens, hunting for constitutionally-protected arms, or rounding up Juden.

It's unfortunate for the few good policemen who will stand by their oath to defend the Constitution (despite this court's flagrant ignorance of it), because as a lot, they are indeed the enemy of freedom.
