Unrest
While I largely agree with most of Ron Paul says, I do not share his implied optimism. I believe there will be civil war, although the soon-to-be all-powerful fedgov will call liberty-lovers "terrorists". Because the freedom fighters will be far outnumbered by those merely upset about not getting their government benefits, I expect the cause of liberty to be lost in the violence. We (liberty-lovers) will lose. The population at large is simply too far gone, ideologically speaking, for education of American ideals to compensate in time to prevent war and restore liberty. Besides the lack of understanding of individual liberty, true Christians are too few and far between to color the would-be revolution as our first one was. Even among liberty-lovers, few though they may be, I believe true Christians are a tiny minority. As such, any efforts toward freedom, especially if they must be violent, will fail to conform to Biblical ethics. Again, the cause will be tainted and ultimately fail. There is but one Hope, and it will definitely defy the ample evidence of our predictably assured failure.
