Tired of swirling

| |

I'm getting tired of being a lonely voice in the wilderness, so to speak. I suppose it's not too terribly lonely. There seem to be a very few cohorts who see the dangers we're planting for ourselves. I don't see many converts, though. Most of the stupid masses are content to watch Christendom and America go down the toilet--nay, not just watch: they lift the seat, press the lever, and jump in and pull others with them. This supports my long-term observation that those who practice evil tend to be stupidly self-destructive (bogus labels of "Christian" or "American" notwithstanding).

Once the flushing starts, it's pretty difficult to stop. The water is swirling already. The only way to stop it from going down the tubes is to first get everyone to stop pressing the lever and jumping in. We'd then need a concerted effort to jam a plug into the drain ahead of the swirling masses of $#!+. I just don't see this happening. Restoration of civilization will only begin when everyone finds themselves swimming in the sewer and remembering it didn't used to be this bad before we flushed and dove. Climbing back out is much tougher than refraining from flushing, though.

If the disgusting metaphor holds, then for all practical purposes, it's too late for us. It then seems pretty useless to keep yelling, "Don't flush!" when it's a done deal. Perhaps my efforts should focus on instructions on climbing out of the sewer rather than ex post facto prevention. Teach the faithful few what it means to be a follower of Christ, a freedom loving American, and a teacher of the same to others.
