Time for Revolution
I've blogged a bit in the past about the demise of this once great nation and the inevitable need for another revolution to restore liberty once again. I've repeatedly said it's not yet time for revolt, despite our present government's abuses being far worse than the British crown's in the mid-to-late eighteenth century. In discussions of late, I've come to realize just when it is time for revolt, armed if necessary.
The level of government evil is not the determining factor for revolutionary timing. Yes, government must exhibit evil. A just and Godly government must not be displaced. It's too easy to see how our government has long since abandoned Godly ways in favor of perpetuating great evil. That requirement being met, the true crux of revolutionary timing lay with the people. More accurately, the correct time for revolt can be seen in the people but is set by the Lord moving in those people.
Only when a righteous people has had enough of the evil will a revolt be inevitable. There are several ingredients here. The people in revolt must be righteous. You cannot kill a bad guy, for example, and remain righteous if you yourself are a bad guy. Innocence is a necessary component for righteous revolt. To this end, we fall far short. Few in this country are particularly Godly. With the falling nature of today's church in America, I fear the raw numbers of the Godly may also be falling. In other words, prior to revolt, we must have revival--not a regional fad, but a lasting, national revival of Godly values. As the church sells out, abandoning the Word of God, true believers must look to the Living Word (not the apostate church) to know righteousness. Pursuant to revival must come a dissatisfaction with evil. Believers cannot abide evil, accepting its omnipresence, as it were, as inevitable. Injustice and corruption must be hated and not tolerated. Prior to the time of revolt, the battle against such evil must be legal and moral. When there is no more legal recourse in the battle against evil, then an illegal yet moral tactic may ensue--revolt.
No, it's still not time for revolt. There just aren't enough righteous believers, and even among the righteous, there aren't many who truly hate evil. When the people are ready, we will not only be moral in our revolt against our corrupt government; we will be successful with the Lord's help.

Mini-revolt
When revolt is righteously chosen individually, it's called civil disobedience. Of course, the result is more evil injustice being served against the civilly disobedient. However, such acts are often a prelude to civil disobedience en masse, eventually leading to a successful, righteous revolution and restoration of Godly liberty.
