The war on homeschooling

| |

A judge in Utah is persecuting a homeschooling family. Why is he doing this? Are the parents abusive? Are the children failing to learn? No, according to the article, "the judge told the woman that homeschooling fails 100 percent of the time and he wasn't going to allow it." It's always reassuring to have a fair, impartial judge sitting on the bench.

It is important to note the tactic that is being used in this particular case. The homeschooling mom says that she faxed her paperwork to the school district, and they claim that they didn't receive it. Maybe they did, and maybe they didn't -- it's not that hard to lose track of a stack of fax papers. The point is that, as homeschooling parents, we must be vigilant to do everything the state requires, precisely as they require it and on time. We must also ensure that we have proof of receipt of any documents we send. John Yarrington, president of the Utah Home Education Association, says that his organization "constantly advises parents to send the affidavits in by registered mail or another service that provides a written confirmation of delivery." We must not give the state any opportunity to bring this sort of action when there is something we can do about it.

Of course, we can do everything right, and it might not matter in the slightest. The article says that there have been a number of cases like this in Utah. I expect that this sort of persecution will spread to other states as well. After all, compulsory public education is a cornerstone of leftist ideology. We must be prepared for these types of battles.

Leave!

The reason the judge can get away with this is because the family in question is capitulating! They are horribly wrong for putting their kids into public school, regardless of what this judge says. If they believe they are in imminent danger because of this rogue judge and any immoral police who support him, they should flee. Better to be righteous fugitives than victims of tyranny.

Freedom is not free. It's not just a bumper sticker. If you're not willing to pay the price to defend freedom--especially that of your own family!--then you don't deserve it. Too many in this country are just stupid pansies who deserve the abuse that's coming to them.

They fled

The family in question has fled Utah and is now in an "undisclosed part of the country."

Vox has it right: "her papers were not in ordnung so she was forced to flee to save her children." What does that remind you of?

Good for them!

I'm glad they're leaving the Nazi--er, Utah--regime's jurisdiction. 'Bout time.

My family has the same plan. We keep it in our back pocket at all times. Were the $#!+ to hit the fan, we'd be outta here--hopefully before the actual impact and subsequent splattering. In fact, we're prepared to live as fugitives for the rest of our lives if need be. The safety and well-being of my family is a much higher priority than conforming to illegal or immoral laws (or court orders). Natural Law always trumps man's laws (at least, it should), and where man tries to usurp God's place as Lawgiver, I'm gonna side with my Judge and Father (Joshua 24:15).
