Obama wants to pass the Orwellian-named "Freedom of Choice" act. This bill, if enacted, would nullify nearly all current laws that restrict abortion in any way. However, it would go much further, making it impossible for any hospital that provides OB/GYN services to decline to perform abortions. (So much for "choice.")

At this point, the hospitals run by Catholics do decline to perform them. The passage of this law would present them with a choice: perform abortions or close their doors. The Catholic bishops have stated unequivocally that they will close the hospitals rather than perform a single abortion.

Folks, Catholics run one third of the hospitals in America. Can you imagine the effect that their sudden closure would have on the remaining hospitals, let alone the economic impact of all those doctors, nurses, technicians and administrators suddenly entering the ranks of the unemployed? Not only that, but the Catholics have stated that they would not be willing to sell the hospitals, as "that would constitute 'material cooperation with an intrinsic evil.'" And yet, Obama and his minions are plenty stupid enough to force this showdown, which will have far-reaching effects for all of us. My prediction is that he will nationalize those hospitals (which would represent a rather brazen breach of the separation of church and state -- but then leftists don't seem to mind as long as it is the state encroaching on the church and not the other way around), so that we can all increase our tribute to Molech just a bit more.
