Stupid Defined

Stupidity
stupid (stoo'-pid): adj., possessing the means (e.g., intelligence, consciousness) and opportunity (i.e., truth and facts are knowable) to choose rightly but choosing wrongly (consciously or sub-).
Stupidity may exist in degrees or levels of sequentially logical abstaction between fact and choice. For example, a first degree stupid choice would be pressing the brake pedal in an automobile in order to go faster, knowing full well it doesn't work this way. A second degree of stupidity may be a choice that logically results from a de facto but incorrect worldview (even if the worldview is chosen only subconsciously): e.g., voting Republican to reduce government.
