North American Integration
I've been listening to Glenn Beck's An Inconvenient Book. In general, he's pretty lame - a DJ-turned-pundit who thinks he's much funnier than he is. But the last chapter of his book opened my eyes to something I didn't know existed. He has a hypothesis for the real reason that the war on illegal immigration is getting nowhere. He mentioned some factors that I've heard before and agree with somewhat:
* Republicans cater to big business that demands access to cheap labor
* Democrats cater to Hispanic-American voters
* Terrain makes it difficult to build a fence
* Special-interest groups that frighten politicians
But why has no president since the '50's been able to stop the flow, even in the midst of widespread popular support? Beck informed me of several organizations that I was previously unaware of:
1. Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP)
No law authorized the funding or creation of the SPP. Many congressmen don't even know SPP exists. SPP has already formed numerous working groups that have reported serious recommendations to cabinet-level executives in all three NA countries. Howard Phillips likens the SPP to the initial stages taken by the supporters of the EU.
2. North American Competitiveness Council (NACC).
This working group recognized that private sector involvement is key to enhancing North America's competitive position in the world market. Thus, NACC provides a voice and a formal role for the private sector. NACC includes top officials from Wal-Mart, Ford, Gillette, Whirlpool, etc. “The purpose of this meeting is to institutionalize the SPP and NACC so that the work will continue through the changes in administrations.” It sees itself essentially as extra-governmental.
3. Council on Foreign Relations (CFR)
Founded in 1921 - non-partisan and independent membership includes Cheney, Condi, Colin Powell, George Soros, Jimmy Carter. They are dedicated to the belief that our nation's peace and prosperity is linked to that of the rest of the world. In 2005, CFR released a report - Building a North American Community, vice-chaired by Professor Robert Pastor (from American University) - The report proposes the creation by 2010 of a North American Community to enhance security, prosperity, and opportunity. Its goal will be to guarantee a free, secure, just, and prosperous North America. Pastor also wrote a book call Taking North American Integration beyond NAFTA, indicating he believes national boundaries should be obliterated and one world rule established.
4. North American Advisory Council (NAAC)
They wrote a report calling for the freer flow of people within the three countries (no need to worry about illegal integration, then, since everyone is free flowing). While Robert Pastor told congress that he does not advocate a single North American government, he made these comments in Canada: “The three governments remain zealous defenders of an aging conception of sovereignty, whereas the people seem ready to entertain new approaches... a North American investment fund to invest $20B per year in infrastructure, to connect the southern part of Mexico with the lucrative North American market... the Department of Homeland Security should expand its mission to include continental security...instead of stopping North Americans at the border, we should provide them with a secure biometric border pass that would ease transit at the border... the US and Canada should begin to merge immigration and refugee policies.”
5. North American Integration and Development Center (NAID)
I found this separate from the Beck book. From what I can tell, NAID is carrying out many of the objectives of the above organizations.
The people who support a North American union also support a common currency. The Amero has already been proposed by a Canadian think tank, modeled after the Euro.
So, Beck's argument is that leaders in and out of our government have already sold out our sovereignty, which is why we still have no fence. Obama and his wife and many others on their bandwagon have stated or implied that they are not proud of America. Why? Because we act sovereignly, proud of our heritage. I believe Obama to be a globalist, hoping for an ultimate one-world government and community.

You got it!
You're absolutely right. Both Parties have sold out America to her enemies.
However, there is a fence being erected right now. Although the border is much longer, then fence is planned for about 700 miles of the southwest. As of a few weeks ago, about 600 miles of this was completed, and they were rushing to complete the rest before Osama--er, Obama--takes office. Already, the fence is proving to be helpful in stemming the tide of invaders.
