As a former ELCA member (yes, born and raised Lutheran), I can say I am disgusted by my former denomination's stance on this matter. In true Lutheran form (although Martin would be upset to see his name associated with this denomination), they avoid using the word "divest", but they use a euphamism which basically means the same thing. Like many other mainstream denominations, the ELCA's policies have long since abandoned Scripture and natural law. How sad for those who are still members.

There are similar happenings

There are similar happenings in the Episcopal church as of late, as I'm sure you know. The ordination of Mr. Robinson as a bishop is just the tip of the iceberg of issues. My own congregation is actively protesting several events and decisions that have happened at the higher levels of association, even against our own bishop. Rather recently, most of the people who have gravitated towards our congregation are folks who are disgusted with the "mainstream", and the families who favor the mainstream left us some time ago.

If we can't fight for Christ in His own Church, where can we?
