Georgia, Israel and the nature of man
This is a good article on the Russian invasion of Georgia, the West's abandonment of their ally, and the lessons to be learned in defense of Israel.
I think the Russian conquest of Georgia holds great lessons for us in America, too. America is nothing more than a bunch of wussies. We're willing to invade weak nations (so weak as to be jokes) like Afghanistan and Iraq, but we're not willing to do what it takes to truly defend freedom, be it in Georgia against the Russians or at home against the alien migration. This is not a statement against America's military, of course--they're the best in the world, no doubt--but an indictment against the morons we have in charge of this nation and the voters who worship them.
It's popularly believed we won the Cold War. However, with our surrender to bifactional communism from within and our leaders being without brains or balls--unable to wield wisely our military might--I think it's reasonable to say we lost the Cold War ideologically, albeit ex post facto, rendering our superpower status moot. On the other hand, while the Soviet empire may have disintegrated, appearing to have lost the Cold War, the Russians are now demonstrating they may be every bit as powerful as ever and may even be looking to reintegrate their empire and then some, given the way the West has rolled over in submission.
