emoze alert workaround

Days ago, I requested membership to the emoze forum to post the workaround to this problem:

...but approval is not forthcoming. As TuscanyCircle is crawled often, I thought it helpful to post the workaround here in the meantime.

First, the problem:

I have the same problem with a TyTn II windows mobile 6. Open the emoze program on the phone and go to "Settings" then "Advanced" then "Alert sound settings" and there is a whole list of sounds. One is called "emoze: new item arrived" and another is called "Messaging: new email message" but changing the sounds associated with these does not change the notification alert sound when a push email is received.

Judging by listening, the notification alert sound is "Alarm2" but changing all occurences of Alarm 2 in the list of sounds for another sound still does not change the notification alert sound which remains as Alarm2. So where is the emoze program getting the Alarm2 sound from? It's a mystery to me. With a similar push email service from emansio.com it is possible to change the notification sound so this problem must be due to the emoze program.

A workaround may be to name your preferred alert "Alarm2.wav" and put it into the \Windows directory, effectively "overwriting" the ROM version of that sound, assuming your preferred sound is also a wave file and assuming you don't mind losing the original Alarm2 (you can copy it to something else if you want to keep it). You should uncheck the use of any alert sound in the Sounds and Notifications dialog for emoze. Emoze will use Alarm2.wav anyway, and you don't want it to try to use it twice concurrently. I have tried this workaround on my Tilt (Kaiser/Tytn II), and it works for me.
