Christian conservatives [sic] are stupid

With a claim like this, and given most of my believing friends are self-identified conservatives, I suppose I should explain.

What is conservatism? Strictly speaking, it's merely a political philosophy that seeks to keep things the way they have been. (Note the present perfect tense there, not past perfect.) By this definition, even President Bush and the Republican neocons are conservatives. They've done nothing substantive to change our corrupt, political culture. Government still continues to grow, controlling almost every conceivable facet of individual and even global life. This trend has been present for several decades, with the possible exceptions of some notable policies under Reagan.

The scary part is the "Christian right" who claim the title of conservative for themselves. They largely vote Republican and support our current President in all he does. However, these claims and this support are at odds with Christian doctrine--the Bible. Biblically speaking, the only purpose of government is to punish evildoers. It's a bit tough to justify government expenses in the trillions of dollars if they were just punishing evildoers. Besides, you can't be Christian and conservative unless you live in an already Christian culture (which America most certainly is not anymore). If you want to conserve the status quo, then it best be Christian already; anything else, and you're wanting to conserve something unchristian. This is where we're at today.

It has been widely believed that the Republican Party is the Christian one. (It can be easily argued this has never been the close--not even close.) I think this stems from our bipartisan system. Given only two parties from which to choose, and well-meaning, even if stupid, Christians will tend to choose the lesser of the two evils. Rest assured, though, both parties are evil, in that they active serve and promote ends and means in direct violation to God's will and written Word. When facing the Judge, it would be ethically superior to have refrained from voting at all than to have voted for those who serve evil (knowingly or not).

[I have blogged about why Christians should participate politically. However, even if withdrawal is ethically inferior to Godly participation, withdrawal is still ethically superior to serving even the lesser of two evils.]

These Republican-voting Christians may mean well, but their actions are serving the purposes of evil. They may want to serve God, but they're serving HaSatan. This seems plainly stupid to me. It's akin to avoiding banging one's head against a brick wall, because it will not produce desired results, but choosing to bang one's head against a cement wall instead erroneously thinking that's better. I'd love to hear an explanation of how this might not be stupid.

I said Christian conservatives [sic] were scary. This is because they are attempting to meld opposing philosophies. Any compromise to the Christian one is a treat to the evil one, the present ruler of this world. Just as the NRA's compromise on gun control (an American solecism) is an effective endorsement on the curtailment of our right to preserve life and liberty, so Christians' attempts to compromise with political evil are merely endorsements of that evil. From this perspective, they are the most dangerous element to their own Christian values.

You can't be a Christian conservative today. Preserving the status quo means service to evil. You can't serve evil and call yourself a follower of the Messiah. You can only have one master. Don't be so stupid as to allow the all-powerful government or its media to dictate your identity; you need not choose between Democrat and Republican, or between left and right, or conservative and liberal. If you insist upon a label, try Christian, or Biblical, or even libertarian--and insure your political actions are wholly, uncompromisingly in accord with your heavenly Master only, rejecting all false gods.
