These spiritual disciplines are not magic tricks or shortcuts. They do not invoke the Lord to action. They are nothing in and of themselves. They are a means to right one's heart, to guide one's mind to conform to the Lord's. They should be practiced by all believers, but not undertaken all at once. Use them as a way of growing closer to the Lord. They can help a disciple recognize that while he may be in this world, he is not of this world.
