Dedication

Today it is common to perform a ceremony of dedication for those yet unable to choose salvation for themselves by submitting to Jesus' Lordship. This ceremony is often performed in place of infant baptism, although meaning the same. These little children and infants are offered to the Lord as His, similar to the prophet Samuel. The parents choose to dedicate their efforts to raising their child in the Lord's service and ways; to teach the child of the Lord, His Word, and His calling for that child; and to prepare the child for him or her to one day choose to accept Jesus' atoning, substitutionary sacrifice, and therefore choose eternal salvation in the Lord's Presence.
