The Boy Who Laughed at Santa Claus
by Ogden Nash
In Baltimore there lived a boy.
He wasn't anybody's joy.
Although his name was Jabez Dawes,
His character was full of flaws.
In school he never led his classes,
He hid old ladies' reading glasses,
His mouth was open when he chewed,
And elbows to the table glued.
He stole the milk of hungry kittens,
And walked through doors marked NO ADMITTANCE.
He said he acted thus because
There wasn't any Santa Claus.
Another trick that tickled Jabez
Was crying 'Boo' at little babies.
He brushed his teeth, they said in town, » read more »

Parenting
What has happened to the father of the family in our daily lives? It seems that Hollywood people, even every-day families, are just ignoring fathers. Every child growing up needs to have a father in their life, but that's just not the way it is anymore. Why? Why have we extinguished every dad in every family? » read more »

Home Life
The common dog is sometimes not what they are on TV. Dogs don't just play all day then sleep at night. They do a lot more than that. In my example of a common dog's day, I will use the name Rover.
To start his day, Rover wakes up and goes outside to do his business. Then, he eats breakfast and lets it digest during a little morning nap. After he wakes up, he goes back outside again, and returns to finish his nap. » read more »

Poetry
Flowers so sweet,
The sun so bright,
From the morning till the night.
Caterpillars grow so big
They can not crawl on their twig.
Butterflies do flutter around
While ladybugs dance upon the ground.
Honeysuckle to pluck and eat;
Springtime truly is a treat.

Economics
In case you haven't noticed, gas prices have been climbing again. Because the federal government forces us to use a special kind of gas (which we don't need to use), the prices are higher. That special gas costs more to make, so it costs more to buy. There isn't any real reason to use the "green" gas, and there isn't any reason at all for the government to make the taxes so high on it. This could truthfully be called theft.

These ideas are simple ways for capable kids to help their Moms and Dads:
1. Clean the house
2. Make breakfast
3. Make lunch
4. Make dinner
5. Clean up breakfast, lunch, or dinner
6. Take out the trash
7. Load and start the dishwasher
8. Do the laundry
9. Do the grocery shopping (if you’re old enough)
10. Spoil your Mom and Dad every once in a while
If you do some of these things every day, your parents will be very grateful!

History
When George Muller was younger, he started going to church, even more than just once a week. Those sermons really spoke to him. He started praying all the time, for things like food, and money. When he cut off all ties between himself and his father, he had to get money somewhere. But he had no job, or even any offers. So he decided to pray for God’s help in finding a job and making money for food and bills. Then, a miracle happened. George found a job and a Christian partner as well. He married Mary soon, and they were on their way to be missionaries. » read more »

Please pray for Australia. There are very severe forest fires over there, and my jazz teacher's brother-in-law is fighting them. About 200-300 people have died, and it's not just a tornado. They can't even find all of the people. Even children are victims. Luckily, my jazz teacher is currently in America, but her relatives are in Australia. Please pray for Australia, and for all the people that live over there.

Dogs are better pets than cats, and here are a few reasons why. First of all, cats are always scratching up the furniture, and ruining the curtains. They’re always jumping onto high places, and getting into special things. If you had a cat, you couldn’t have any beaded lamp shades, bead curtains, or canopies because the cat would “play†with them and destroy them! » read more »
